In this personal and inspiring blog post, I share with you the importance of rest and relaxation in dealing with stress at work and everyday challenges. Sitting in the beautiful sunset of the Maldives, I reflect on the healing power of travel, mindfulness and nature, and how it can help us to revive and return to work more effectively.

Beyond the Office: restart
Sunset in the Maldives. The turquoise sea slowly merges with the orange and pink hues of the sky. I sit here in the sand, my feet in the warm water, and I am thinking. I think about how long the journey has been, and not just geographically.
Our lives are a constant race against deadlines, unexpected challenges and, of course, against ourselves, mixed with the constant pressure to meet expectations. There is always something to react to, something that could be done better, more, faster. And of course, who thinks about rest and leisure when there is so much to do? And if you’re the type of person like me who, when you have a minute to breathe, you’re already on to the next task or training to make sure your calendar is 110% full, you’ll understand me enormously.
There’s a thought in your head… now you really need to get away for a while.
There comes a moment when you realise: there is no perfect time to leave. There will always be another email, another project, another deadline. If only because I’m recruiting for myself. That is why I decided that now is the time. Now that the idea has been formulated. It is time to reward ourselves – spiritually and mentally. About two weeks ago I decided I had to go. As soon as possible. Of course, there was no need to tell me or my husband before departure. To leave with as clear a conscience as possible, we worked ourselves to the ground. But at least we made the decision to go. Plus, we’re going to do exactly nothing else related to the internet, work, community, apart from this post. We only care about ourselves, about each other. Let’s do nothing.
This trip is more than just a holiday. It is a path to renewal.
According to an article in Forbes.hu, mindfulness – being present and detached from your surroundings – helps improve your productivity and creative thinking. Scientific research also shows that spending time in nature helps reduce stress and improve mental function.
Did you know that rest and relaxation are not only enjoyable, but also essential to maintain our performance? According to research from Stanford University, spending time in nature can significantly reduce stress levels and improve cognitive function. And another study, the Framingham Heart Study, says that getting away from your daily routine allows you to look at your problems (challenges) from a distance and make more thoughtful decisions.
Dear friends, rest is not only a well-deserved reward for hard work, it is an essential necessity for our long-term success and health. A break, like this one week for us, gives us a chance to resurrect ourselves, restart ourselves (the vino is full, we need a backup) and get back to work more efficiently.
I’m not just talking to entrepreneurs, but to all people who work hard and conscientiously, who have goals, who are going somewhere, who invest time and energy in their professional and personal development. They are dedicated and therefore deserve to reward themselves with a break every now and then.
I’ll be back in the hustle and bustle soon, but for now, at this moment, I’m just listening to the waves crashing, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. I’m grateful to all my colleagues and partners for allowing us this break – for our spirit and our spirit. We are very lucky! (and you don’t have to hump around the Maldives to do it, although it was a dream come true for me to visit such a superegotic island). I must have been traumatized as a child by the Bounty commercial…
And now I have a question for you: Which is the place where you can recharge the most? Whether it’s a remote ocean beach, a quiet hideaway in the woods, or even a special corner of your own home where you sit with a book in your hands. Share with me your favourite places where restart works for you and the experiences that help you to recharge and get inspired.
(you’ll laugh, but with a small switch off, cleaning works for me)
Let’s give each other ideas, help each other! I look forward to your stories!
