The beginning may be harder than ever, but if we persevere, we can achieve extraordinary things.

Dare to stand out from the crowd: Dare to Be Different
When I was standing in the halls of the Van Gogh exhibition, time stood still for a moment. Standing in front of the works of Vincent van Gogh, thanks to amazing digital solutions, I felt that I was not only confronted with the genius of a painter, but also with the story of a man who revolutionised the use of colour in art in a way that was unprecedented. The colours that he have worked with so strongly and boldly, perhaps were not put on his palette by coincidence? Research suggests that Van Gogh may have been a misrepresentative, which also gives a new perspective to understanding him.
This insight is more than just a curiosity; it can be an inspiration to anyone who has ever encountered obstacles. Just think that Van Gogh, perhaps because of his vision problems, created works that are now considered some of the world’s greatest treasures. His example illustrates perfectly that creativity, creation, often comes from challenges and personal limitations.
“If you hear an inner voice saying ‘you can’t paint’, then by all means just keep painting and the voice will stop.”
It is by overcoming our doubts and fears that we can become truly great.
The Relationship between Marketing and Creativity
But how does this relate to marketing and creativity in general? True innovation and standing out from the crowd is often closely linked to our ability to embrace and transform the challenges and constraints we face. Van Gogh’s case also shows that sometimes it is our handicaps that can give us that special insight that allows us to create something completely new and exciting.
In other words, the brands and professionals who really stand out in the marketing world are those who dare to be different, who are not afraid to face challenges and who are able to turn their own “colour blindness” into unique advantages.
Creativity is the creative solution to problems, and Van Gogh’s art embodies this concept in its purest form.
“What would life be like if we didn’t have the courage to try things?”
Van Gogh’s courage to look at the world from a completely new perspective is still an inspiration today. For marketers and creative professionals, this means daring to experiment, daring to explore new avenues and never being afraid to show your own uniqueness.
The beginning may be harder than anything else, but if we persevere, we can achieve extraordinary things. Whatever the endeavour, the point is the same: balancing on the fine line between genius and madness, we create something lasting. That is what makes us truly special, and that is what allows us to GET OUT FROM THE CROWD. Let this idea be an inspiration for all of us who want to create something new and lasting in our own field.
ps: By the way, do you have that scene from Doctor Who when the TARDIS took the Doc to the Musée d’Orsay in 2010(n) with Van Gogh? This is one of the most moving fictional celebrations of Van Gogh’s life and legacy. The scene not only captures the passion and desire for recognition of art, but also conveys the message that art is eternal and has a timeless impact. And let’s admit, it was touching to see, even if only on screen, that there is a universe, a possible future, where Vincent Van Gogh is acknowledged and celebrated – in a way that he could witness!
